About

I am seeking your support to become your councillor for the new ward of Corkickle & Harras Park at the Cumberland Council elections next May, covering the neighbourhoods of Corkickle, Hillcrest and Highlands.

I live nearby, I work in the town, and I care deeply about the future of Whitehaven. I know that trust is earned, not claimed. Over the months ahead, my priority is to listen, learn and prove that I would be a hardworking voice for your community.

I also know that many people feel fed up with politics. Some people who have voted Labour before are frustrated. Others feel that national politics is distant from the issues that matter here: the state of local streets, housing, anti-social behaviour, transport, pride in the town, support for young people, and whether residents feel listened to when decisions are made.

I am standing as a Labour candidate because my values are Labour values: fairness, public service, strong communities, decent homes, good work, and making sure places like Whitehaven get the attention and investment they deserve. But being a good councillor is not about repeating party slogans. It is about being visible, accessible and useful.

If elected, I would aim to be the kind of councillor who does the basics well: answering residents, taking up casework, working with local groups, holding the council to account, and fighting for practical improvements people can see and feel.

Over the coming months I will be knocking on doors, attending local meetings and speaking to as many residents as possible. I want to hear what you think needs changing, what you value about this area, and what you want from your local councillor.

I will not claim to have all the answers. But I will promise this: I will work hard, I will listen, I will be honest about what can and cannot be done, and I will always put this community first.

If you would like to raise an issue with me, share your views, or simply have a conversation, please complete my survey or get in touch anytime.
